ANOTHER NWA Amsterdam/Detroit Flight Requests Emergency Assistance [Terrorism]

Another flight from Amsterdam to Detroit, bearing the same flight number as the flight that featured the Christmas Day Firecracker pants guy from Nigeria, has been the target of some kind of “bathroom disruption.”

The man in this case, also from Nigeria, allegedly locked himself in the bathroom. Out tipster, Mike, asked, what’s next, “new bathroom restrictions?”

Thankfully, this NWA plane landed safely in Detroit with no injuries, although we imagine that bathroom door is pretty banged up. [Huffington Post]

Rumor: Nook Update to Focus On Performance, Page Refresh Rates [Nook]

A “reliable” source has claimed at Engadget today that the Barnes & Noble Nook will soon be on the receiving end of a “major update.” Updated.

The update will address many of the quirks users have experienced thus far with the new e-reader. Topping the alleged list are performance improvements and a faster page refresh rate, both of which Wilson identified in his mostly positive Nook review earlier this month.

Update: Our own tipster wrote to say that this is 100% confirmed, citing an announcement that was made on B&N’s internal employee network. We may have some visual proof shortly. [Engadget]

Update and Release Date Rumor on Google Phone, a.k.a. Nexus One [News]

Following up on our Monday morning roundup of “Google Phone”/Nexus One news, we thought we’d offer (just) one more bunch of news. First up, the Reuters news service has a “source familiar with the matter” citing a Jan. 5 release date, both as an unlocked phone sold directly by Google, and at a reduced price, with two-year contract, through T-Mobile USA. The Android Guys blog has a tipster who claims something juicier: a $99 price through Google, for those with “old” Google accounts, with a $100 rebate that can be spent on data service or other goods. Finally, Gizmodo, courtesy of Boy Genius Report, offers up some crisp, size-comparing shots.
