A Bit Better RTM Enhances Remember The Milk for Google Chrome [Downloads]

Google Chrome extension A Bit Better RTM is one of our favorite ways to tweak the popular Remember the Milk online to-do list web app, and now it’s been ported as a native Google Chrome extension.

We’ve mentioned the A Bit Better RTM Greasemonkey script twice before as one of our favorite user scripts for Greasemonkey in Firefox, and the the native Chrome version works much the same way—the most noticeable feature moves the tabs over to the left, saving precious vertical space for widescreen laptop users, and making them more readable in general.

In addition, you can rearrange the lists, hide the lists you don’t use, use keyboard shortcuts to switch between them, and even move an item to a folder from the keyboard. It’s an extremely helpful extension, and this author, at least, is thrilled to finally have it on Chrome. A Bit Better RTM is a free download, works wherever Chrome does. Thanks, CookingCat!

A Mockup of the Firefox 4 User Interface: Hello, Gorgeous! [Firefox]

A Firefox developer has posted a handful of mockups of Firefox 4‘s user interface redesign along with some explanations of this shiny new App Button we’re getting. Everything just looks oh-so-gorgeous and simplified right next to that old 3.5 design.

The main focus of this new design is the App Button, a space-saving touch which will feel familiar to Windows 7 users. In essence, it “provides a unified location for menu items” and cuts down on all the toolbar clutter.

You can check out Horlander’s site for plenty of details about the design and explanations behind some of the new elements, but before you go, tell me: Do you prefer this App Button sort of element? Or do you prefer the plain ol’ menus we’re used to? [Stephen Horlander via Neowin]

Session Manager Enables Multi-Tab Setups in Google Chrome [Downloads]

Sure, you can use Google Chrome’s new tab page to quickly launch your favorite sites, but launching all your needed tabs at once, with a single click, is really darned helpful. The Session Manager extension makes it so.

Session Manager is one of the Chrome extensions that doesn’t need an options dialog—it simply does what it does, and does it quickly. When you’ve got a group of tabs open worth re-opening in the future, hit the box-type icon, give it a name like “Work Tabs,” and hit Save. Hit the button again to fire up those tabs, or rename or remove other saved sessions from the dialog.

That’s all it does—and it’s not quite as sophisticated as add-ons like SessionSaver for Firefox, but that’s a nice feature that Chrome definitely benefits from. Session Manager is a free download, requires a Dev version of Chrome for Windows or the (for now). For more Chrome-empowering extensions, check out our 18 picks from the extensions gallery.
